  1. How do you preserve cosmetics?
Hi! I’ve been using Apple Cider Vinegar as my shampoo and coconut oil (with vanilla to make it smell better) as my conditioner. They work GREAT! I got a recipe recently for a hair gel for curly hair where you boil okra in coconut milk. Apparently it works well, but you have to freeze it. I want to make this, but how could I do this? I need preservatives that work make it last a while but can be bought it local stores. How do you preserve your cosmetics?

  2. Is there anything I can do to alleviate demodex symptoms between Mitaban dips?
We rescued an 8 week old basenji mix puppy 3 weeks ago. After having her for 2 weeks we discovered she had roundworms (though the rescue says she had been de-wormed). A few days after seeing the vet we noticed a small loss of fur around her eyes and the next day she had thinning hair on her forehead. We took her to the vet immediately and found out she had demodex mange. She was given a Mitaban dip and we were told she would need to come back every 2 weeks for several treatments until we had 2 negative scrapes for mites. As we left the vet told us that she could possibly get worse before she gets betters, including reddened skin and bumps. This morning (2 days after her dip) she is definitely worse and now has bumps, scabs and a few sores. It is Sunday so I plan on calling the vet tomorrow first thing because I fear she may have gotten a secondary infection that requires antibiotics.

My question is: Though I plan to continue with the vet’s treatment plan, I wonder if there is any SAFE things I can do at home to alleviate the symptoms? I can tell she is uncomfortable because she doesn’t want to play, sleeps and cuddles a lot, itches herself, and pulls away if I try to touch her head (where there appears to be bumps/sores). I have coconut oil and I wonder if it would be okay to dab a little of that on her scabs since it is safe to ingest. I don’t feel comfortable using benadryl or cortisone cream without my doctor’s approval. And even though my doctor did not mention anything about whether or not she could be bathed in between dips, I have read online that you should probably not get them wet in between. Like I said, we will be seeing him tomorrow, I just wonder if there’s something I can do today.

    • Your vet is scamming you for money, and dips are very harsh and hard on a weakened immune system, especially for a puppy, so he is putting your dogs life at risk, too.

Find a better vet and get a second opinion. Small does of oral ivermectin over the course of a few weeks can cure without harming your dog. In the meantime, get your pup on a high quality immune boosting diet and possibly a immune booster vitamin.

The skin is red and irritated because the chemicals are so harsh. Put your dog in t-shirts so she won’t scratch and make scar tissue that doesn’t grow hair back.

  3. How likely is it to get a yeast infections before you even know your pregnant?
Me and my husband have been ttc and im 5 days past ovulation and have suddenly gotton my first yeast infection. So i was wondering if its common for a lot of women to get a yeast infection before they now there pregnant?

    • Hi there,

I apologize up front as I can’t really say for sure in answer to your question, it would seem to be an indication since pregnant women are more prone to yeast infections. I would go more based on the fact that its been 5 days. If you are congratulations.

I figure you wouldn’t mind having some additional help to eliminate the yeast infection you currently suffer from. I have some natural treatments you can try that are 100% safe, natural and effective.

There are many things you need to start doing and addressing if you are suffering from a yeast infection. To start, do the following:

      1. Wear loose clothing and undergarments, oxygen kills yeast, going commando and wearing nothing down there if possible is even better.

      2. Get some unsweetened yogurt and rub it onto a tampon, insert the tampon and do this continually until the yeast infection is gone.

      3. Cut out any and all sugar, alcohol and yeast from your diet. All three will promote the infection further.

      4. Start drinking cranberry juice, pure not from concentrate with no added sugar, I know this goes against the no sugar thing but the acid content in the cranberries will alter the PH balance of your vagina and cause the yeast to die off.

      5. If you can tolerate it, use a raw garlic clove and apply it to the infection, this may burn so dilute it with some olive or coconut oil, both of which can also help eliminate the yeast, especially the coconut.

      6. You can also try taking some vitamin B3, many women find their infections resolve quicker when they are taking 300mg/per day.

      7. Take a probiotic with at least 50 billion live cells per pill, this is key in redistributing good bacteria throughout your body, and effectively end the yeast infection. You must do this continually until you have eliminated your yeast infections and Candida entirely.

      8. Lastly if all else fails, begin adding 2 cups of apple cider vinegar to a bath. Only fill the tub up high enough to submerge your genital area. Stay in the tub for 20-30 minutes at a time.

Hope this helps, the yogurt is the key really, by putting good bacteria directly on the area you will eliminate it quickly. Make sure it is unsweetened and ideally keep an eye out for a variation called Kefir which has even more beneficial bacteria in it to help wipe out the infection.

  4. How fast do they eyes heal themselves from?
prolong use of a computer screen/tv, eye drops, nonprescription contacts, coconut oil and soap ?

    • In most cases eyes/vision heals or recovers pretty quickly. Excessive use of computers and TV watching can cause temporary eye restrain and the condition should resolve fairly quickly once you resolve the cause, give your eyes a break from the screens as often as you can. If you used the wrong over the counter eye drops, once you’ve stopped using them, any problems should resolve. Using the wrong prescription eye drops could certainly cause sight threatening problems so you should stop using them immediately and you ought to see an eye specialist, if the Rx drops have caused vision problems. Coconut Oil and soap will not effect your eyes for any length, but washing your eyes with clear water is advisable.

Now, if the non-prescription contacts are the ones sold illegally online or at malls because they are not legal in most Western countries, you could have big problem. These costume, circle, geo lenses can block necessary oxygen from reaching the eye causing sight threatening infection and have also been known to slice through the wearer’s cornea.

  5. can coconut oil increase hair growth and help with my eczema?
i have afro hair which breaks quite alot and is quite dry all the time. also, my skin is very dark and dry because of my eczema, so how can coconut oil help with all these things?
can it be coconut oil that is used for cooking?

    • As if being the most delicious flavour, texture and smell wasn’t enough. I’ve recently discovered, that the humble coconut, is quite possibly one of the most powerful super foods around. This post could get very long…so I’ll dive into the bits of research I’ve found out so you can get the gist of what it’s all about and get purchasing/eating/smothering as soon as possible.
First things first, this isn’t just a body oil or hair care product. You can eat coconut oil. At room temperature, it’s a solid much like butter, when warmed in your hands or when cooking…it melts. We’ve just started using this, but plan to replace most of our oil/butter consumption with this…and it tastes AMAZING!! They recommend you consume between one and five tablespoons of oil a day. On toast it’s a dream, in Thai curry it’s ridiculous. But I like to literally ñom ñom teaspoonfulls of it throughout the day, straight up out of the jar. Sounds gross…I assure you, it’s the schnizzle. Thanks going out to Jenna Marbles
for putting me onto this ‘magical unicorn elixir’!

      WHAT DOES IT DO?
One of the most interesting properties it has, it that it contains Lauric Acid. Lauric Acid is found in breast milk…so, no need to explain how über rejuvenating that is. Without trying to sound too complicated or medical of like I actually know any of this myself, here’s a list of what I’ve found the benefits to be. Feel free to Google it yourselves, there’s a ton of videos on YouTube too backing up the research – and what interested me most – the amount of real people raving about it and reviewing it. Contrary to popular belief (apparently, not that I’ve ever heard anything bad about it) coconut oil was considered a “bad” fat because it is a saturated fat. However, coconut oil is a “good fat” and actually beneficial for the heart. It helps in preventing various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.
      SMOTHER IT:
Rub it on your fingernails, on your face (I find as a night moisturiser it’s best, its not crazy oily, but takes a little while to sink in totally) best lip balm ever, I left the house yesterday with dry almost chapped lips, used it throughout the day, they were soft by the time I got home from work…SHAZZAM.  It reduces scarring, prevents stretch marks, heals burns/scrapes/scabs etc much faster, and literally erases bruises. I rubbed it on a mosquito bite yesterday and it instantly soothed it…barely noticeable today. My skin already looks plumper on my face, fine lines reduced, lovely squishy bouncy skin…and I only started using it last night…FOR REAL.
Best eyemakeup remover ever, and it actually conditions your eyelashes making them stronger and grow longer. Same for hair on your head (or wherever you want to grow thicker longer hair!) whack it on dry hair leave it for a few hours or overnight in a bandana or turban or whatever…wake up…and voilá – you’re the Timotei chick. Relieves dandruff, prevents lice, and cures (if not dramatically improves) psoriasis and eczema.
      EAT IT:
First thing I noticed like many others, is that it gives you an almost instant mad energy boost. Sort of like a coffee, but not jittery and wide eyed, just bouncy happy buzz…yeah baby! Did I already mention how freakishly delicious it is? It suppresses binge eating by levelling out your blood sugar, so you don’t go raiding the fridge and ruining your new year diet. It boosts your natural metabolism and actually makes you LOSE weight.
It sorts out your digestion, immune system, it’s anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal (cures shit like athletes foot and yeast infections, stops you getting cold sores and all that).  It aids absorption of calcium and other vitamins and minerals into your body from other foods. Sorts out your internal organs…check this post out for the medical shizz >>

It’s a great tanning oil, and can help your skin build up better tolerance to the harmful rays…what else can I say?? Well probably lots but I’m even boring myself writing it all down. I’ll update the blog with more stuff I discover if it’s worthy of y’all knowing about it…

  6. What are the symptoms of a yeast infection?
I’m just wondering, what are the symptoms of a yeast infection? I have white secretions coming out of my vagina, and sometimes the can look like little globs. Now I’m not entirely sure that is normal. Can somebody give their opinion on what it might be?

    • What you are experiencing could be a yeast infection, other symptoms to look for would be burning, itching, redness and any other sort of irritation. Just having white secretions is tough to say, I would err on the side of caution and assume it either is a yeast infection or one in development.

In which case, here are some natural tips and suggestions for you.

There are many things you need to start doing and addressing if you are suffering from a yeast infection. To start, do the following:

      1. Wear loose clothing and undergarments, oxygen kills yeast, going commando and wearing nothing down there if possible is even better.

When all is said and done I would suggest you research Candida and take a test to determine if you are suffering from it, as anyone who gets yeast infections has Candida, it’s just a matter of how bad it is.
